In season 11, episode 5, Rebecca hires a jingle writer, Sly Flembeck to write a theme song for Cheers. The role is played by John Mahoney, who a year later claimed the role of Martin Crane, Frasier’s father! Kelsey was actually the one to offer him the role by calling John and asking “Will you be my dad?” [Another fun fact, John is only 15 years older than Kelsey!]

Cheers Fact 24:

There was an alternate ending to the I Do, Adieu episode. To hide the fact that Shelley Long was leaving Cheers, they filmed  this ending- Sam and Diane actually saying “I do”- in front of a live audience. But once the audience left, they filmed the real ending that aired, in which Diane leaves for “6 months”.

“When they came in, they were better than any visitor we ever had. They were totally overwhelmed.  We couldn’t get rid of them.”

— Phyllis Caskey, Hollywood Entertainment Museum, on the cast of Cheers.

Notice: If you knew this existed and did not tell me when I lived within 10 minutes of it, we can no longer be friends.  I will forgive and forget if you can tell me where all of this stuff is right now.

The original Cheers set! Unfortunately, the set has been moved to storage as of 2006 :(
